Master’s Opening

Dear new or old ISM master’s student!

Aalto ISM invites you to kick off the new academic year at Master’s Opening. The event will provide information about the subject club’s operations and ISM studies as well as offer a chance for casual hanging out with other ISM students. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and get to know the ISM community!

The event is open for all ISM master’s students, but in case the Corona restrictions limit the number of participants, new ISM master’s students coming from outside Otaniemi campus will be given first priority, new ISM master’s students moving within Otaniemi campus will be given second priority and the rest follow.

The organising mode (live or online) is also still open and will be confirmed closer to the event. Therefore, when you sign-up for the event you are asked to indicate your interest in participating in the event in case it’s held live indoors, live outdoors or remotely.

Bachelor’s Opening

Hei uusi tai vanha ISM-kandi!

Aalto ISM kutsuu sinut korkkaamaan uuden lukuvuoden Bachelor’s Openingiin. Tapahtumassa on luvassa järjestön toiminnan ja ISM-opintojen esittelyä sekä kasuaalia hengailua muiden ISM-kandien kanssa. Tämä on siis mainio mahdollisuus tutustua uusiin tyyppeihin ja ISM-yhteisöön!

Tapahtumaan voi ilmoittautua kuka tahansa ISM:n kandiopiskelija, mutta koronarajoitusten rajoittaessa osallistujamäärää ensisijalle laitetaan uudet ISM-kandit.

Tapahtuman järjestysmuoto (live vai online) riippuu myöskin koronarajoituksista ja ilmoitetaan lähempänä tapahtumaa. Tämän vuoksi ilmoittautuessasi tapahtumaan voit valita oletko kiinnostunut osallistumaan livenä sisätiloissa, livenä ulkona tai etänä.

Case Night with BCG and Aalto Economics

Exciting news! The first excursion of the fall is here. Together with BCG and Aalto Economics we are having a virtual case solving workshop. The event fits first-time case solvers as well as case-experts.

Case Night with BCG and Aalto Economics on September 14th at 18:00-20:00.

Join us on September 14th for an interactive virtual case solving session with BCG in Finland! We’ll share our best tips for how to solve cases, push you to think outside the box and give you the tools needed to understand complex business problems. During the session, you’ll get to solve a case challenge in smaller groups together with peers and your BCG coach.

Regardless if you’re new to case solving or a seasoned expert, this session will give you further insight on the topic and take you to the next level in your learning. No prior experience in case solving is required!

Picnic Hangout with Aalto ISM

The start of the academic year is closing in on us, but there is still summer left! Vielä on kesää jäljellä…

We have heard your wishes for an event! Aalto ISM welcomes all new and old ISM students to a casual hangout outdoors on Wednesday 4.8. at 18:00 onwards in Vanha Kirkkopuisto. The picnic is a great place to network with other ISM people, meet new faces, and connect with some of our alumni as well! ISM will provide some snacks and drinks, but you may also want to take your own and BYOB (bring your own blanket).

We want to especially encourage all new bachelor’s and master’s ISM students to come enjoy the sun and meet your new study buddies.

Please sign-up for the event before joining so we can keep the event safe for everyone. The sign-up is open until the event so no sign-up is a late sign-up.

If you are sick or have any symptoms that could be COVID, please do not attend the event.

Wellbeing Questionnaire Results

The wellbeing questionnaire results and report are here!

Earlier this spring Aalto ISM decided to hold their own wellbeing questionnaire to get insights into ISM students’ wellbeing. There was a need to understand ISM students feelings and experiences during COVID-19 and how the situation is affecting to their motivation and studies. Aalto ISM felt that the AllWell?-survey and its interpretation provided a more optimistic view on the current situation than reality was.

The major findings of the questionnaire include:

  • The level of students’ wellbeing has decreased greatly during the past year
    • Almost all respondents have encountered exhaustion or lack of motivation
  • Concrete things are helping students to cope with the situation
    • Social activities help students overcome the struggles that they are experiencing

Key recommendations are as follows:

  • Remote working should be easily approachable by the students
    • Focus on not increasing the workload level
    • Standardize recorded live-stream lectures
    • More support for students
  • A plan for opening the University should be conducted and presented to students

EY Lunch Excursion

Are you interested in deep diving into different industries and getting to work with a variety of Finnish companies? Have you been pondering whether consulting would be the future career path for you?

EY invites you to join us for a casual lunch excursion on Tuesday May 18th at 11-12:30 online to address these questions and more. During the event you get to hear about different career opportunities at EY Consulting and have a chance to discuss with ISM Alumni currently working at EY.

  • Discussion in small groups

Happy Wappu! Hauskaa Wappua!

Best Wappu-wishes from the board of Aalto ISM! We hope that you get to the spirit, enjoy some Wappu delicacies and of course join Aalto ISM’s Sima Break on Thursday.

Wappu celebrations are finally here. We are once again celebrating Wappu in exceptional conditions and hopeful next year we get enjoy a more traditional Wappu. This year Aalto ISM celebrates Wappu by organising this week’s Coffee Break as a Sima Break! Check out the event on Facebook and join us on 29th April at 18.00.

Sima Break with Aalto ISM

Wappu is here, time to celebrate!

Casual Sima Break with Aalto ISM on Thursday 29th April 2021 at 18-20.

Time to pour a glass of sima, grab your munkkis and serpentiinis, and join other ISM people to get to the Wappu spirit. We’ll be hanging for a couple of hours in Zoom from 6pm onwards on Thursday 29.4. Join Zoom with code 610 6640 4642 or through the Facebook event.

The sima break is a casual event with no specified program, so feel free to join at any point. The break is hosted by Aalto ISM board members.

Siintääkö tulevaisuudessasi palveluiden kehittäminen, yritysten hankintaketjut ja vastuullinen logistiikka? ISM voisi olla juuri sinun juttusi!

Aalto ISM:n Mursuinfo 3.5. klo 18-21

Pääainevalinnat lähestyvät ja maanantaina 3.5. on sinun tilaisuutesi tutustua tieto- ja palvelujohtamisen eli ISM:n opiskeluun. Mursuinfossa kuulet millaista on opiskella tieto- ja palvelujohtamista, mitä opintoihin sisältyy ja mihin pääaineesta työllistyy. Tapahtumassa on mukana niin ISM:n opiskelijoita ja alumneja kuin professoreitakin.

Osallistujille on tiedossa herkkuja, joten ilmoittauduthan 30.4. mennessä linkistä ylhäällä, ettet jää nälkäiseksi! Herkkuja jaetaan 3.5. neljällä sijainnilla: Otaniemi, Jätkäsaari, Arkadia ja Leppävaara. Tarkemmat noutoajat ilmoitetaan myöhemmin.
